How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore ... [I] put [my] trust under the shadow of Your wings ... For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Ps 36:7, 9

When [someone] REALLY loves you, then you become Real.” “Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit. “Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”
( excerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit )
I have to remind myself that being “real” doesn’t mean you won’t get or be hurt! It just, according to the Skin Horse, means that you won’t mind.
Umm … Guess I’m not really real yet.
Truth is, for I try to always be truthful, I DO mind being hurt. Don’t like it one little bit. But I’m trying to learn to allow it.
There have been many situations and relationships that I’ve walked away from to avoid being hurt - again. Right now I’m just trying to stay with them even though I know I WILL continue to be hurt; my heart will be broken, yet again; my feelings trampled upon, one more time; and I will cry, a lot. But I want these relationships to become real - alive. I believe that love can conquer our differences and cover our transgressions against one another. I truly believe that love, if not my own, God’s through me, will never fail.
Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. 1 Cor 13:4-7 JB
Enduring,
